Exercise

I have a love/hate affair with exercise. I generally love it when I’m doing it and thoroughly enjoy going to the gym(to lift heavy weights, not to run on a treadmill – I’m not daft), going for a run in the fresh air (not in the rain, again, Not Daft) and generally enjoying exercise.

However, at the moment, the pendulum has swung the other way and I just can’t be bothered to do anything. I am in a massive slump after all the activity before the wedding and honeymoon and really, the thought of heading to the gym and throwing some weights around is giving me the heebie-jeebies. Additionally, I can’t be bothered to go for a run. It all seems like too much hard work. I know that I’ve had  almost 4 weeks off now and I will have lost a lot of fitness and it’ll feel like starting from scratch again. I can’t face 2 days of aching like a mo-fo after restarting my program and I certainly can’t face being hot, sweaty and totally out of breath.

So I’m going to have to do something a little more fun. I think some badminton would be in order, and perhaps a pilates class – I’ve never tried Pilates and I think the precise movements and less sweat should be quite nice. I’m toying with the idea of trying some adult ballet lessons – I did ballet for 8 years or so as a child and loved it then – but I’m not sure my complete lack of grace and poise might work against me.

As well as trying those new things, I’m going to see if I can find some boxing lessons / classes as I do really enjoy that. And I’m definitely keen to try some more new and exciting fun ways to exercise. Anyone got any recommendations?
