Last night was Liz’s turn at the Dinner Club front. She decided that the Ottolenghi vegetarian cook book – Plenty would be her saviour in this and made 2 courses from that. She was right. She served up a selection of interesting, tasty and delicious food.
We started with a date broth in which were some silky smooth parsnip dumplings. (no pictures, I was too excited). Which was followed by some medium sized feta, spinach and sumaq Moroccan-style pastries served with a rocket, butternut and hazelnut (or macadamia, I forget) salad.
Dessert was not a middle eastern spectacular but a rather American style sugar spectacular. Key Lime Pie. Unlike Lisa’s key lime pie the other week, Liz’s was more like a lemon meringue pie and was, quite frankly, amazing. So amazing that we could Matt trying to lick the dish on the way out.
