Really. Tomorrow will be vegetables and steamed fish.
Simon pretty much excelled himself as Chef by creating the most incredible meal. Slow roast lamb with garlic and rosemary with roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots in honey and sesame seeds, green beans, sweetcorn and mint sauce and redcurrant jelly.
Mum and I managed a bunch of substantial canapés between us before we embarked on our monster meal.
Parmesan and pesto straws
Sweet potato and cheese fritters
Ricotta and spinach filo puffs
Blinis with home cured gravlax and sour cream.
And the entire lot was topped off by pear and amaretto cheese cake. Oh and then there was the Cheese. Capital C. I can’t really talk about the cheese as I’m convinced it gave me epic cheese dreams and a good case of the cheese-sweats. Let’s also suggest that if you haven’t tried damson paste then you really should purchase it as soon as possible. Today is boxing day and we have pretty much done nothing. Cleared up, walked, fed the squirrels in the park and headed home for more
food. It never ends…
